How To Get Involved

There is often a shortage of homes for foster children, so we want to support families in as many ways as possible.

Respite Care – A Much Needed Lifeline

If you cannot foster full time, volunteer to do respite care for children in traditional foster care homes. These families receive only 7 days of paid respite annually. A little respite on a regular basis helps full-time foster parents maintain their willingness to continue providing homes for children. (You must take the foster care training and be licensed to provide respite care and take emergency/temporary placements).

Other Ways to Help

You don’t have to be a foster parent or offer respite care to help children in foster care. There are lots of ways to put your valuable abilities to work for raising awareness and advocating on behalf of children.

Administrative Help

Volunteer to serve on our Board of Directors
Volunteer to assist individuals/couples with the licensing requirements (i.e., drawing home evacuation plans; writing life stories, writing letters to foster children and birth parents, scrapbooking
Help with funding for ongoing administration/operation needs

Assist With Special Events

Provide a site for a birthday party
Serve as a volunteer coordinator or help with birthday parties
Solicit donations of items for foster families including safety equipment, birthday gift cards for children or luggage.
Volunteer to help with events (i.e., provide photography, entertainment)

Financial Sponsorships

Sponsor children for Bright Future bags and contents (i.e. pajamas, blankets/throws, silkscreened laundry bags, coloring book diaries, crayons/colored pencils, stuffed animals) and Christmas gifts.
Everything from back-to-school supplies, toys, and suitcases are needed by organizations in your community. Whatever you can provide will go a long way.
